Mail lists can be your best source of fundraising. You can use these to reach out to your rescue family with newsletters and announcements either by regular mail or email. The source of mail lists is your PCO file and you should take great care to keep the names and addresses in this file accurate.
It takes a lot of effort to host fundraising events like golf tournaments, dinners, dances, etc. It has been shown that what takes a lot less work, and raises more money, is to simply ask the people familiar with your organization for a donation. They want to help and they will help if you only ask them. And the best way to ask them is via a newsletter where you highlight was you’ve done in the period just passed and what you hope to accomplish, with their help, in the period ahead.
A direct, regular mailing is best because in this mailing you can include an evelope, addressed to you, that they can use to send you a donation. You should try this; you’ll be amazed at the results. You must keep your PCO file in good condition because it is from this file that mailing labels will be produced. We have developed programs to help you do this and to also filter out PCO’s that are unlikely to donate.
